BLDN Editorial
Editorial standards
BLDN publishes decision guides, grooming instructions and curated links for men who are going bald or already bald. This page explains where the information comes from, what we will and won't say, and how to tell us we've got something wrong.
Who writes BLDN
Guides are written and maintained by BLDN Editorial, a small independent team. Our own value-add is decision framing, grooming practice, style and lived experience — the parts of going bald that clinical sources reasonably don't cover. Read more about BLDN.
Sourcing
- Anything medical — causes of hair loss, treatment categories, scalp and skin care, sun protection — is sourced to recognised clinical bodies such as the American Academy of Dermatology, or to the relevant professional society. Those sources are listed at the bottom of the page that uses them.
- We do not name dosages, recommend specific prescriptions, or tell anyone to start or stop a treatment. That belongs with a clinician who can examine you.
- Practical guidance (how to shave, how to avoid bumps, what to wear) is written from hands-on experience and checked against manufacturer and dermatology guidance where safety is involved.
- External resources in the library are read or watched in full before they're listed, and links are re-checked periodically. A dead or changed link is removed rather than left in place.
Dates and freshness
The "Updated" date on a guide is the date its content genuinely changed. We don't refresh dates to look active, and we don't republish unchanged pages.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, out of date or misleading, we'd rather know. Corrections are made directly on the page and the updated date is changed. Material corrections to health-related content are noted in the text itself rather than made silently.
Money and independence
BLDN currently runs no affiliate links, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in the resource library. We have no commercial relationship with any clinic, treatment provider or grooming brand, and we take no commission on treatment. If that ever changes, any commercial relationship will be labelled on the page it appears on, and it will never determine what we recommend.
Not medical advice
BLDN is editorial, not medical care. Health information here is general and educational, and is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment from a qualified professional. Sudden, patchy or painful hair loss, or any scalp condition that isn't settling, is worth an appointment with a doctor or board-certified dermatologist.
